The Tokyo Sustainable Seafood Symposium is the annual flagship event of Japan’s Sustainable Seafood Movement. The GLOBALG.A.P. standard for Aquaculture is relatively new and unknown in the Japanese sector, making the presentation of the benefits of GLOBALG.A.P. certification even more important. Together with presentations from the other panel representatives – Global Seafood Safety Initiative (GSSI) and retailer EROSKI – the session very clearly demonstrated how each link in the chain carries a specific responsibility for more sustainability in the aquaculture sector. In particular, the experiences shared by Spanish retailer EROSKI offered valuable insights into the benefits as well as the practical application of the GGN label.
